I've always wanted to do something to help alleviate the amount of trash that goes into our landfills. It's shocking to know how many tons of waste goes into our landfills a day. With that, that's why I wanted to be a bit more proactive with this new little venture.
A few weeks ago, a friend of mine who knew about what I wanted to do, reached out to me to tell me that a designer, Kristin Dion Designs was getting rid of a huge bag of fabric scraps. I immediately DM'd her to ask about it, and she happily gave them to me. From there, I pieced the fabric scraps together to create these lovely goodies: Tote Bags.
So this 15lb bag of fabric, which could have been tossed away, now has a new purpose and that means there is 15lbs less that went to the landfill. I know that's most likely a .000001% difference - but hey, that's better than 0%.
I've added these on to my Etsy page: oHelloThereDesigns
For every purchase, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to a charity. This first round: Orangutans. Orangutans are in desperate need of help with their diminishing homes, they're basically refugees searching for a place to live on this planet of ours as we wipe out their homes for the Palm Oil Industry. I don't even want to get into that little subject. Anyways, check it out if you'd like. I'll be periodically adding more items with new fabrics that will help with the planet... So do some good for you and for Mother Earth! HURRAY!!
